The young woman gracing the top of this post is Georgiana Ferrier, Lady Barbara Whitfeld’s cousin and the youngest of the Ferrier daughters. You met her as a minor character in A Country Masquerade, and if you read my book reviews, she took over that stage to explain her reaction to Mr. Darcy’s Guide to Courtship by Fitzwilliam Darcy as recorded by Emily Brand. There is nothing minor about her role in the upcoming An Innocent Secret, Book Three of the Uncommon Lords and Ladies series. While Georgiana Ferrier has no claim to a title, her uncommon suitor is heir to a barony in the vicinity of the Ferrier Farm.
Georgiana, or Georgie to her friends and family, is what would easily be considered an original if she weren’t cast out of society altogether. Luckily for her, she’s been raised in the country where the strictures are somewhat different, and more to her tastes. If her father had any knowledge of what she’d been up to since the young age of seven, however, he’d have locked her in her room and swallowed the key.
While traditionally the sisters would marry in order of age, Georgie is a bit precocious and decided her story had to be told first regardless of when her wedding banns would post. She brought this about by teasing both her author and readers with sly comments and hints laced throughout A Country Masquerade. If these intrigued you as they did me, you’ll be happy to know An Innocent Secret reveals the truth behind them as this novel begins shortly before A Country Masquerade and finishes after in the Uncommon Lords and Ladies timeline.
As the post title mentions, there will be a treat available to all my Uncommon Lords and Ladies fans who choose to subscribe to either my general newsletter or the romance announcement list. This month’s short story is told primarily by Frederick Hathwell, heir to Brookway Barony. An Innocent Secret begins when Frederick (Freddie) and Georgie are older, but their story starts a good number of years earlier when Freddie is but ten and Georgie 25 months younger at seven. While I may release the short story later, for now only my newsletter/list subscribers will be privy to just how these two unlikely souls met and fell in love, though perhaps they were not aware enough to realize the connection at first. Make sure you *subscribe* soon so as not to miss out.
