Full Print Cover Reveal for Trainee

Though the print version of Trainee is still making its way through the necessary steps, I wanted to share the cover art because I had a lot of fun with it. You’ll find, if you have a print copy of Shafter, there are many similarities. There are also significant differences, some of which will spill over to Shafter when I update its cover to reflect the series information as well.

I have continued the main Shafter font. It’s a funny quirk because it’s based off of the font used in the London Underground while Trina (the main character of Shafter and one of the two main characters of Trainee) grew up in the abandoned subway tunnels under First City. Yes, the city name might make you laugh, but on Ceric, it had political expediency. The very name reminded every other city who was established first. For some reason, the other cities did not continue the trend. I wonder why? *wink*

Anyway, back to the cover.

As I said, I kept the same title font because I like it. I also kept the metallic curve on the spine. Since the spine is flat, you’d think it wouldn’t work, but it did on Shafter and I like the look. The spine coloring will be wider, however, so it wraps a little on both the front and the back, maintaining the illusion.

There are other elements I retained, but I’ve mentioned the main ones above. There is also an homage for Shafter readers on the front cover (for this and the eBook). If you see it, go ahead and say so in the comments.

And with no further ado, here it is. Click to see a larger version.
