A quick WorldCon update
I’m having a wonderful time at Renovation. Two of my panels were on the first day, and it turned out I was on the first panel for the full convention, Welcome to Reno, where I offered some suggestions, and jotted down a few notes for myself. Then, as part of the TeachingSF program, we discussed ways to incorporate SF into the academic curriculum. I finished the day with a concert and a play. I had to miss much of Thursday for one reason or another, but did get to go on the morning walk, to Juliette Wade’s Kaffeeklatsch where she talked about her experiences in Japan and how they influenced the stories she’s writing, and had fun talking to Jed Hartman, who is a high school friend of my husband.
I will be in room A16 today at 2pm for the Anticipatory Anthropology panel where we will be looking at how anthropology can reveal the paths human development may follow. I hope you will stop by if you’re at WorldCon.

Writing
An important reminder of the pitfalls of a publishing career, but not in the way you might expect, which is why I’m putting it here, not under publishing:

Thanks for more good links! I’ve missed them over the summer with so much going on. Good to be back home and getting back into the routine. lol Glad to hear you are having such a great time at WorldCon. Someday, I may make it to one.
Glad you’re enjoying them. To catch up with previous weeks, you can find just those listed under For Fun in the header.
WorldCon was wonderful :). I got to talk to some old friends and make some new ones, went to some interesting panels and participated on some as well. Saw a fabulous puppet show, and hung out with two wonderful kids :).
🙂 Glad you had a great time. I will definitely have to schedule my life so that I can make it to one of these things. I probably should have planned my summer more carefully this year, since it was SO close. I can’t believe how much travelling we did this summer. Makes me tired just thinking about it. 🙂
Thanks. And yes, that’s why we were determined to take the whole family, but now we’re hooked. Maybe it’ll be in San Jose again, which isn’t that far of a drive.
