Fun

Fun with words. This is the results of a challenge to create meaningful images out of the letters of a word. It’s a promo for a book, but fascinating on its own:

Research

I had a hard time deciding where to classify this particular article because it’s fascinating on many levels. It posits a world where everyone has a higher intelligence and super intelligences are more common. While some of the postulations make sense to me, and are not predicting a perfect world just because of more intelligence among humans, other assumptions, especially about how these people will influence social conventions on personal care, strike me as failing to recognize the influence of society on social conventions even involving hygiene, along with the research that’s showing our standards of cleanliness, rather than improving health, may actually be contributing to auto-immune diseases not to mention antibiotic resistance. Regardless, it was an interesting, thought-provoking read, and of use in looking at prediction and extrapolation.
