Word Context (Writing)
This is a pet peeve of mine because I’m not one of the “run for the dictionary while reading” folks, but this blog post makes its point quickly and conclusively. If you’re going to use words your readers might not know, provide enough context for them to understand the word:

And I can’t blame that woman for being annoyed at being told that Legos and video games are “boy things.” Or that “boy things” are somehow inherently better.

Umm, umm, I know the term, and in context, I’d remember the meaning, but…
Or it means they’re optimistic 60% of the time, or just willing to adopt :).
And yeah, I was annoyed by the change to organized sets when the boys were young, but hadn’t thought through it until recently because I was never much of a girlie girl. My Barbies wore hand-sewn clothes, rode horses, and drove a Tonka truck. The boys had dolls as well as building sets. Guess I never noticed which aisle I was shopping in…at yardsales :).
