Two Quick Reminders and Things That Make Me Smile No.84: Bagpipes

One thing that makes me smile is gaining new readers. Though that’s not the smile I’m sharing with you today, both reminders give you the chance to try some of my writing for free.

The first reminder is that the giveaway for my steampunk adventure series on Tome Tender ends tonight, Oct 13th, at midnight East Coast Time. While Secrets remains free in eBook on all platforms, the opportunity to score a copy of Threats, or possibly the whole first volume, will end, so make sure you get your entries in. The prizes are all in eBook form to open the giveaway to international readers as well.

A Chance Meeting Newsletter BonusThe second reminder is that, as promised, I will be sending my September newsletter to all new subscribers, on the 15th of this month along with the Romance release announcement to any subscribers who haven’t already received the newsletter. Why the resend? Well, last month’s issue gave access to an eBook (.mobi and ePub) version of a short story prequel to my next Uncommon Lords and Ladies release, An Innocent Secret, which is coming out right around the corner. You do not need to read the short story to enjoy the novel, but it’s a fun glimpse into the origins of their relationship and is only available by subscribing to my newsletter or the romance announcement list. So, if you’re a historical sweet romance fan, be sure to sign up and enjoy A Chance Meeting.

Which brings me to the smile. I love the sound of bagpipes and never quite understood why some people do not. The music is evocative of craggy mountains with endless echoes, transporting you to the Scottish hills. However, I do recognize I’m in the minority, which makes this video just awesome especially since I recently caught up on the last group of Outlander episodes. You’ll understand the last when you watch it. Even if you don’t prefer bagpipes, check it out for the chuckles.

<3 bagpipes. It's a family thing. Thanks for posting that.

Love bagpipes–the music is otherworldly. I heard them played by an Indian band in Shalimar Gardens and will never forget the experience. Also at Arlington Cemetery. And we have a bagpiper in our church who plays for special occasions. It’s fantastic. The Ur-music of humankind.
