Georgie laid a hint or two down while Barbara was attempting to teach Aubrey a lesson in A Country Masquerade, and I’m the curious sort. Here’s a glimpse into their story:

Raised by her father and oldest sister from the age of nine, Georgie was governed by a light hand, a choice as much out of grief from her mother’s death as Charlotte lacking experience in the mothering role. No one thought twice about Georgie’s tendency to spend every spare moment traipsing the woods, especially when she’d return with gifts of freshly caught fish. They had no way of knowing she went as much to meet with her secret friend as for the forest itself. She’d met this ignorant boy a year before her mother died and had made it her mission to train him in the woodland crafts she’d first learned from her mother. How was she to know their innocent friendship would bloom into something much more complicated as Freddie passed his eighteenth birthday and she turned sixteen shortly after?

From the forest brook that gave Freddie’s barony its name all the way to London, these two struggle to reveal their secret without harming either family or chancing their future happiness, a task requiring help of friends old and new in a romp every bit as enjoyable as they’d found the forest as children.
